Pittsburgh and many other cities are increasingly turning to smart data for answers to traffic safety and traffic flow improvement. In this specific case, the pre-pandemic traffic data obtained from cellphones was compared with the spatial accident data to identify the locations where some traffic measures need to be applied. Surprisingly, it was observed that the intensity of traffic does not correlate with the severity of the accident.
